Writing a blog post of any amount of words is not easy especially if writing doesn’t come naturally. Or if you don’t have the gift of love of writing. But lucky for us because everybody can learn how to write and how to write well. It just takes some practice and the ability to want to know how to do something.
Tips on writing your first 1000-word blog post
1. Find your writing style
Finding your blog’s writing style gives you a structure to follow. It also helps you to build a personal connection with your audience. Finding the right blogging style depends on your goals for your blog and what you want to accomplish with it.
Everybody’s writing style and writing process are different. And to a new blogger, it can seem rather overwhelming to figure out your writing style. But you have to try different tactics to see what works best for you and what your writing style is.
It’s good sometimes to copy someone but only to a certain extent because you don’t want to copy the entire way of writing. You wanna find your own writing style. So that your content can be authentic and 100% you.
2. The perfect amount of words for a blog post
Blog posts with 1000 + words rank more easily in search engines. But if you really want to rank high in search you must write 2500+ words that are of quality, informative, and content that people are searching for.
The number of words that you need to write will vary depending on who you ask. The minimum amount of words is 1000 words per blog post. Especially for beginners. You don’t want to try to create long-form content from the start because you are still learning how to write. And You are still finding your own voice and your writing process. Start with 1,000 – 1,500 words.
Longer blog content gives the reader more information and actionable steps to take to solve their problem. You also need to keep your audience engaged and keep them on your blog longer.
3. Practice by writing a lot
The more you practice the better you will become. And the faster the writing process will be for you. The minimum amount of hours that it takes beginners to write a blog post is around 4-8 hours. That’s at least how long it took me when I started blogging, and then it gradually just decreased.
4. Find easier ways to create content faster.
Create a list of possible content ideas and add to that as you brainstorm. A content strategy will help during those days when you are low on ideas. Creating a blog schedule will help keep you motivated and help you create content faster.
As you become better at your craft you learn to find better ways to create your content. Like using Google docs to speak your blog post instead of writing it. Writing a blog post takes a lot longer because you speak faster than you type.
The words flow much easier when you talk your blog post out instead of trying to put them on paper or on the screen. As you speak, your thinking becomes clearer and you will write faster and get more words out.
You can also repurpose your content and get more use out of it. Instead of creating new pieces of content for all your social media accounts.
5. The blogging process
The blogging process is fairly simple. If you just follow a few rules. Like thinking about what you wanna Write, doing research, writing an outline, and then just writing or talking your post out.
It really is not rocket science or that hard. Especially since a lot of people are doing it. There are so many posts about how to write a blog post.
What’s most important is finding a blog topic that will rank well in the search engines. That people are interested in writing an SEO-optimized post. Creating the perfect headline to get your post noticed is also important.
6. How often will you publish blog posts
Decide how often you will be blogging. This will depend on how long it takes you to write a 1000-word blog post. You really want to try and be as consistent as possible. I know I’m still working on this.
But don’t put too much pressure on yourself and work yourself into a coma. You will start hating blogging and quit forever. If you do get blogger burnout, take a break and then come back refreshed and start again.
