How to choose the perfect niche

Is the idea of how to choose the perfect niche keeping you from starting your blog?

Introduction on how to choose the perfect niche

Is there even something like a perfect blog niche? I’m not sure.

But there is a profitable niche.

There are hundreds if not thousands of niches to choose from.

You get 3 types of niches:

  • Niches/topics that can’t be monetized.
  • Topics that have the potential to make money, but are much more difficult. (You don’t want to choose a niche that will be an uphill battle to monetize.)
  • The ‘perfect’ niche that is easy to make money with. You want to fall into this category. Choose an evergreen niche, that you can generate an income from, for decades to come.

Also, choose a niche that won’t bore you to death. More on that later.

But let’s back up a second.

What is a blogging niche?

A blogging niche is basically just the blog topic you pick to talk about. To build an audience around. You can even build a brand around your topic. A business.

Okay.

But how do you choose the ‘perfect’ niche?

The most profitable niches:

Personal Finance

Make Money Online

Health and Fitness

Food

Travel

Lifestyle

Parenting

Beauty and Fashion

DIY Crafts

How to choose the perfect niche that is right for you?

When you are trying to decide how to choose the ‘perfect’ niche. Pick a niche that is based on a need. Look around you. Find a problem that people have. What do they struggle with?

If enough people have the same problem, then there is potential for monetization. Figure out how to solve the problem that they have.

When you help your audience with their problems, you know you have a profitable niche. That’s one way of picking the perfect niche.

Or

Another way is to look at other successful bloggers. Which niche are they in? Are they successful?

If you have an idea about a potential niche, research it and see if there are other bloggers in that niche. If they are successful, then chances are you might be too.

You can always change what you blog about. If you decide it’s not a good fit for you anymore. Or you could start a second blog.

The thing is…

There are a lot of bloggers who have more than one blog. Blogging about different niches.

You will probably change your mind about your topic many times. I first wanted to blog about hair and beauty. Then I was into personal development. Then health and fitness.

You get the point right?

During the time that I was supposedly into these blog topics, I noticed that I read more blogs about blogging. I knew more about it than anything else I was presumably interested in.

Pay attention to what you love to read. Talk about. Think about. The clues are all around you.

You want to choose a perfect, profitable niche. That is the whole point of your blog, right? To make money.

Or are you just doing it for fun? Maybe because you just want to help

people? That’s good and all but if we are honest with ourselves, most of us want to make money and help people.

Win-win for all.

Back to choosing the perfect niche.

Like I said, the most important part is that it has to be profitable.

Ask yourself a few questions.

What do I love?

You are going to blog about your topic for years. Make sure you love what you talk about.

What am I interested in?

You might love something but are you interested in writing blog posts about it?

I love to sing but I am so not interested in talking about music.

You have to find common ground.

Love and interest have to go

hand-in-hand. Think a bit deeper. I’m sure you’ll come up with great ideas.

Also, make sure you know a lot about your topic.

You do not need to be an expert at all. Only know more than your readers. Providing value to them. You will learn more as you go along on your journey.

Are there enough monetization strategies within my niche?

Can I help people with my niche?

How to choose the perfect nice.

Are other people interested in this topic? Can I make a difference in their lives, make it better than it was before they met me?

You have to make sure you choose a niche that is easily monetized. You don’t need to make it harder than it already is. There will be plenty of obstacles on your blogging journey.

Who is your target audience?

What is their biggest problem? How can you help them?

Find their problem and provide a solution. It will always have a monetization strategy. It will also narrow down your niche. Help a very specific type of person.

I help stay-at-home moms start an online business and make money blogging. I teach them how to be independent, chase their goals and dreams, while still raising their kids.

Specific. (I think). With lots of ways to make money.

When using this method of choosing a niche, you won’t get stuck on how to pick what to write about.

Most people struggle with it because they make it more complicated than it has to be. It doesn’t.

Find a problem and solve it. Give your audience what they want. But make sure that you at least like to write about the topic. You are going to create content around it for years.
