It’s time to forget the old year. To forget all your disappointments and the goals that you didn’t reach. Look ahead, plan and prepare for the New Year ahead.

We have another year ahead of us. A clean slate to do all the things that you always wanted to do. This is the perfect time to focus on what you want to do next and to reach your goals and dreams.

What is a new year’s resolution?

A new year’s resolution is a promise a person makes. To start a good practice or change an undesired trait or behavior and accomplish a personal or professional goal at the beginning of a new year to improve their life.

Why do people make new year’s resolutions?

The tradition of New Year’s resolutions dates all the way back to B.C. January is named after Janus. A mythical god of early Rome.

Janus was known to have two faces. One facing forward and one looking back. Which allowed him to look back on the past and to the future.

It is said that on December the 31st, the Romans imagined Janus looking back into the old year and forward to the new year.

This became a symbolic time for Romans to make resolutions for the new year.

How do you set a new year’s resolution?

To avoid the trap that more than half of all people who set resolutions make, you have to identify the right resolutions to implement and know why you want them.

Set and pick the right resolution that you know you can achieve and that is meaningful to you. Something that will improve your overall life.

Be specific when you set a resolution. Measure it. Set dates in place to see how you are growing, and then you will achieve it if you break it up into steps. So that it doesn’t leave you frustrated or overwhelmed.

Also, be sure to ask yourself, are you doing it for the right reasons, are you pursuing this girl for the right reasons or are you just doing it because other people are doing it, or do you think that that’s what you should be?

Make it time-sensitive. You have to put a time limit on your resolution, otherwise, it will just be a wish.

To put a time limit in to say when you want it done makes it realistic. And it tracks your progress over the next couple of months.

What are the top 10 new year’s resolutions?

New year’s resolutions for bloggers

1. Set goals and break them into smaller goals

The first thing you should do when you set new year’s resolutions is to set goals. Break them into smaller goals. If you just set one big goal you will more than likely quit and give up.

But if you break it into smaller goals and in months and weeks and days, then you will more than likely follow through on your and accomplish everything you set out to do.

2. Set a good amount of realistic resolutions

Don’t set too many unrealistic New Year’s resolutions. That will have you screaming and running away from your resolutions. Set a limited amount that is manageable.  There are only so many things a human being can do.

I know that we tend to want to achieve over and above but that will only lead to frustration.

Make a short list of resolutions that are important to you and that you can manage. Set it by priorities and prioritize the most important to the least important

Tackle the most important first. Write down anything you want to accomplish and improve on. Then set a plan in place to execute  it.

3. Learn SEO

SEO is by far the best thing that you can learn for your blog. Because it will bring you Google traffic consistently. Learning about keyword research and where to put the keywords is important.

Search engine  optimization is a long game for bloggers. It doesn’t kick in until 6- 12 months. But when it does, it more or less runs on autopilot. As long as you implement all you learn on all your posts. Learn on-page and off-page SEO to rank better.

4. Start or grow that email list

If you don’t have an email list this is the year to start one. One of the best ways to grow your income is with an email list. Like they say the money is in the list. And the best way to grow your email list is with a lot of good helpful freebies.

Something that you can provide to your audience that they need. That will make them want to give you their email address. It could be a checklist, guide, or anything as long as it’s helpful. When people are on your email list regularly send them valuable information to keep them on your list.

5. Expand your blogging mindset

Working on your mindset is so important.  It’s crucial really. Because we are inundated with so many things that the online community throws at us that we must have a strong mindset.

It becomes so easy to lose yourself in the online world. Easy to feel defeated when you see others growing faster than you. Don’t let that get you down.

Focus on you and your wins. What are you grateful for? Focusing on your own goals will prevent you from getting distracted and motivate you to achieve your goals.

6. Create a solid content strategy

If there has to be only one thing you do this year, it’s to focus on creating a solid content strategy. Create content constantly and consistently. That alone will grow your blogging business in leaps and bounds.

And in turn will grow other aspects of your blog, your income, your followers. So work on your content strategy more than you work on anything else because it is that important.

Provide value above and beyond the call of duty. Give more of everything.

7. Clean and spruce up your blog

You don’t want to spend hours tweaking your blog theme. But taking time to increase your page loading time is important.

Improve navigation on your site to make it more user-friendly.

Simply switching to a faster hosting provider and a better theme will make a huge difference.

8. Become a better writer

One of my favorite new year’s resolutions is to start writing more to become a better writer.

Isn’t it funny when we say that we don’t have the time to write? Like that is even an option.

By writing more you will get better at your craft and create content your audience wants to read.

Writing is a skill that can be mastered.

9. Develop a self-care routine

Last and by no means least, is to develop a self-care regimen. Taking care of yourself is what will allow you to follow through on your resolutions.

Look after your health. Your physical, emotional, and mental health contribute to how you show up in your business.

Every day find something to do for yourself. Read a good book, take a long bath, go for a walk. Anything that will recharge and make you feel cared for.

Conclusion to new year’s resolutions for bloggers

And there you have it. New year’s resolutions to set for bloggers.

Review your resolutions regularly. You can’t achieve your goals if you don’t know what they are.

Reviewing your resolutions regularly will remind you of your goals and your dreams. And what you want to achieve and it will push you to carry on during those tough times when you feel like quitting.

You will see the big picture by doing a regular check-in to track your progress monthly.

Sometimes you will stumble and fall. Let’s face it. You won’t be 100 percent motivated or dedicated every day. But you have to get back on track.

Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Don’t dwell on the mistakes that you will inevitably make. Forget it and move on to the next thing. All that dwelling on something does is delay your progress and stop you from moving forward.
