Introduction to 7 Productivity tips for new bloggers during the holidays

I wrote these 7 Productivity tips for new bloggers during the holidays because the holidays can put us in a relaxing state of mind. And that in turn makes us not want to work on our blogs. Let’s face it, there are too many things to do. Like cooking, cleaning, gift shopping, vacationing and spending time with our loved ones that we haven’t seen all year.

So where does blogging fit into that schedule? It doesn’t. Right? The problem is that we don’t put it on our to-do list schedule. And we should. Just like we make time for all other things we plan, we should do the same with our blog. Especially new bloggers. If we can make it a habit to constantly work on our blogs daily, then it would become very easy to stay consistent.

This is also the perfect time to slow down and focus on where we want to take our blogs in the new year. It’s the perfect time to get stuff done that has been on our to-do list for months. I also find that during this time of the year we think more clearly about our lives and what we want to achieve the next year.

We are also happier and have more energy during this time of the year.  And that increases our production. So where most people tend to slow down with work during this time I encourage you to push and increase the rate at which you work on your blog.

Let’s get started on the 7  tips for blogger productivity during the holidays.

1. Write easy and exciting content

Don’t write in-depth 5000 plus word articles. You won’t have time to do that. Write an essay of 1000+ words. Write exciting articles that won’t take you long to write. Just make sure it’s still up to your blog standard and not a piece of fluff.

Write about things that excite you and would do the same to your audience.  That way, even when you do sit down to create content it won’t feel like work. The trick here is to work without actually working if that makes sense.

2. Batch your blogging tasks

Set a daily for just brainstorming blog posts. As many as you can think you can manage to write. But don’t set the bar too high. Remember that it is the holidays and you do still want to enjoy yourself, and take a break as well. Set realistic goals. One day for brainstorming.

The next day you do your outline for all your posts,  4 – 8 is realistic for most people. Then over the next 2 – 3 days, you write your content. After that, the hardest work is pretty much done. All that remains is creating pins, adding links, pictures proofreading, and then scheduling.

3. Set an actual Schedule

Just saying you’re going to do something and setting time out for it is where the real magic happens. You have to set an exact schedule of when you will do what blogging tasks. If you don’t, you will convince yourself that it’s not that important and you can do it later. We all know that later, most of the time becomes never. So set a set schedule and stick to it.

4. Plan ahead

Before the holidays start, start planning.  Get as much done ahead of time as you can. Make sure you start your holiday chores as early as possible. Do your holiday shopping and gift buying early. That way some of the stress is eliminated and you can concentrate on working on your blog while enjoying the holidays with family and friends.  Isn’t that a win-win? So plan everything ahead of time. Do as much as you can as soon as you can. In doing so you free up more time for other important tasks.

5. Hold yourself accountable

When you plan on doing certain blogging tasks or any task for that matter, the reason why it’s recommended you write it down is so that you can see it and get it deep into your mind. That will hold you accountable even if you want to forget or just ignore it, you won’t be able to.

Something happens when you write stuff down. It’s almost like it becomes real. Alive. You won’t forget it and if left undone, it will bother the heck out of you until you just get it done. You could also tell your partner your plans and ask him to hold you accountable. Usually, that helps as well.

6. Schedule and promote your content

Once all your planning, writing, and batching are done. It’s time to schedule and post all your hard work.  Just remember to proofread before posting. You can use the tailwind scheduler to post your content for you while you are enjoying precious time with loved ones.

7. Start preparing for next year

When your blogging tasks are done for the holidays. The next step is to get ready for your blog goals next year. If you can prepare now for the year ahead, you are already a step ahead of most people. Set your goals now and start implementing them. So that when the new year arrives you aren’t caught off guard running around without a plan. You hit the ground running on January 1st. Wouldn’t that make for a much productive month and year ahead?
